2026 continues to get bigger for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The MCU timeline has finally brought one of its most beloved superheroes back after being gone for nearly five years, following the game-changing conclusion in Spider-Man: No Way Home. As the New York crime-fighter is officially back on the big screen, his Phase 6 adventure just got a major upgrade.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened in theaters on July 31, is officially getting its IMAX release, as Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' superhero entry will start playing in North America as of August 6. This is coming after a strong debut worldwide, as the film has already grossed $927 million at the box office.

In China, Japan, and South Korea, the Phase 6 installment has made $23 million through their IMAX screenings. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed feature marks the third MCU project for the filmmaker following Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and the Wonder Man TV show.

Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX, shared his excitement about the comic book entry in the following statement: “Spider-Man has been among the most bankable superheroes at the global box office for over two decades — with the franchise delivering $365 million in IMAX receipts to date — and Brand New Day is taking that legacy to new heights with its record-breaking opening weekend. We believe more Spidey fans around the world will want to experience his latest adventure in IMAX — and we hope to be a major driver of both new and repeat viewing for the latest hit in this incredible year for moviegoing.”
