GTA 6’s November 19 Release Date Now Officially Has A Rival Game
It has been no secret for a while now that game developers and publishers are concerned about the potential consequences of releasing their hard work in and around the behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto VI. That is now all but nailed on to arrive in November, and you'll struggle to find many other titles that have been brave enough to lock their own release dates in at that time.
In fact, some games have gone as far as delaying what were already concrete release dates, after Rockstar pushed their own game back from May to November and scuppered a thousand marketing campaigns in the process. Now, though, it has emerged that one game has been brave enough to take GTA VI on directly, and that could be the best advertisement for the game we can think of.
As first reported by Eurogamer, The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + Online has revealed its release date, and it's safe to say that they have no fear of the potential GTA-related consequences. The package product, which is essentially a collection of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and all previously released add-ons, arrives on November 19, otherwise known as exactly the same day as Grand Theft Auto VI.
The game is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, with a physical copy being available on the latter. Though they are obviously very different games, the sheer scale of GTA VI's audience means that there will inevitably be some Binding of Isaac fans amongst them.
What they will prioritize remains to be seen, but it has to be said that it is nice to see a game studio not entirely throwing in the towel just because another game is coming out, however monumental that game ends up being.
Ahead of all that, we do have a few high-profile releases in the months leading up to GTA VI, as studios and developers rush out the final stages to beat them to the punch. Those include Marvel's Wolverine, Gears of War: E-Day, and Phantom Blade Zero, all of which drop before the end of October.
On the GTA VI front, there have been several high-profile leaks over the last few days that purport to show gameplay footage and cutscenes. They look convincing enough, and videos are being removed from social media as fast as they are appearing, ahead of the official reveal on Netflix next week.
