Tides Of Annihilation May Look To Resident Evil For Its New Lead

Resident Evil Actor Could Be Replacing Jennifer English In Tides Of Annihilation

Jennifer English stepped back from her role as Gwendolyn, the lead in the upcoming Tides of Annihilation, so that she can “slow down” after taking on several big projects over a short period. That forced Eclipse Glow to seek out someone else to play their lead, and it’s starting to look like they may have landed another big fish for the role.

It Sounds Like Angela Sant'Albano Has Replaced Jennifer English

Tides of Annihilation is set to be a part of Gamescom later this month, during which footage featuring the new Gwendolyn actor will be showcased. That footage has popped up online (thanks, GamesRadar+), and a lot of people are convinced that the voice emanating from the lead character belongs to Angela Sant’Albano.

Sant’Albano’s voice is fresh in the memories of a lot of gamers because she played Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year. Sant’Albano’s name will likely be mentioned frequently come the end of the year when awards are being handed out, and the team behind Tides of Annihilation previously praised the actor, furthering the theory that she has been selected to replace English.

That’s not even the most damning evidence of all pointing to Sant’Albano being the new Gwendolyn. Grace’s mocap actor, Jennifer Prime, may have let the cat out of the bag. When faced with the question by a fan, Prime replied, “Yep! But this time, no more screaming 'Leon!”

I hope they work in a “Leon!” somehow at least once, even if it’s a little jarring and doesn’t make much sense.

Landing Sant'Albano Would Be Quite The Feat

Losing English as your lead is a bitter blow. Casting her has come with a Game of the Year award guarantee in recent years. The actor was Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3, and even played a role in Elden Ring. No wonder she needs to take some time off.

There aren’t many actors who Eclipse Glow could have recruited to replace English that would keep the hope and excitement for its game at a similar level, but Sant’Albano may well be one of them. Incredibly fortuitous that she’s just coming off the back of Requiem, so that she was presumably free to step into the role. It also means her performance as Grace in a game that was universally loved by those who played it is still fresh in people's minds.
