Samara Weaving Suits Up As X-Men’s Emma Frost In Stunning New MCU Art

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Emma Frost has arrived.

On July 31, it was reported by Deadline that the MCU's first X-Men reboot character had been cast, with Samara Weaving playing Emma Frost. According to the trade, she landed the role after an extensive process to find the right actor and delivering an audition that "was too hard to beat." Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the casting yet.

Now, only two days after the reported casting, in new fan art created by @bosslogic, Weaving can be seen suited up as Emma Frost as diamonds swirl around her. Meanwhile, her right arm and right side of the face transform into her diamond form. The caption says, "I love Samara Weaving, I also love Emma Frost, so naturally I love Samara Frost." Check out the art below:

Emma Frost, who was first introduced in The Uncanny X-Men #129, is a mutant who is telepathic and can turn into diamond. A live-action version of the character previously appeared in 2011's X-Men: First Class, where she was played by January Jones.

While she has been both a villain and a hero in the comics, she was an antagonist acting as the right-hand to Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) in First Class. She was freed from prison by Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr at the end of the movie, but in the sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, she was revealed to have been killed in the years after her escape.

As the first actor reportedly attached to Jake Schreier's MCU X-Men movie, Weaving's casting is a major step forward for the project. An official release date has not been revealed yet, but the movie is anticipated to be a vital part of the post-Avengers: Secret Wars slate during Phase 7, which so far includes 2028's Ghost Rider starring Ryan Gosling and Black Panther 3 starring David Jonsson.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day sets up X-Men in several ways, and rumors continue to swirl about who will play the new versions of Magneto, Professor X/Charles Xavier, Cyclops/Scott Summers, Storm/Ororo Munroe, and other mutants widely expected to be in the upcoming movie. This also comes as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and Kelsey Grammer reprise their roles from Fox's X-Men movies in Avengers: Doomsday.

Before going on the path to join Marvel, Samara Weaving already had a long list of credits, including Ready or Not, The Babysitter, Nine Perfect Strangers, Carolina Caroline, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and Over Your Dead Body. Along with the success of Ready or Not and The Babysitter leading to sequels, she has also appeared in Bill & Ted: Face the Music, Scream VI, and Snake Eyes. Emma Frost would be her biggest franchise role yet, though, and has the potential to last for years given how important the X-Men will likely be to the MCU's future.

Schreier, who is directing the Marvel Cinematic Universe X-Men movie, has already worked within the franchise after directing 2025's Thunderbolts*. The film was very well-received, leading to a "Certified Fresh" 88% critics' score and "Verified Hot" 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
