Ubisoft is giving away For Honor for free: claim it now and keep it forever

For Honor is being given away for free on PC, but only for a limited time. Once the Ubisoft game is claimed and downloaded, however, it’s yours to keep forever.

For Honor was released in February 2017, and it’s fair to say that the Ubisoft action game didn’t have the best of starts due to launch issues related to online connectivity and cheaters, causing a sharp drop in concurrent players.

However, Ubisoft worked hard to fix For Honor’s issues and by June 2017, the game had over 1.3 million active players, as reported by GameSpot. Nine years later, For Honor is a much better game, especially following its new-gen performance update in March 2021.

You can claim and download For Honor for free right now from Ubisoft Connect. You might not want to wait around for too long to claim the free game, because this For Honor promotion is only valid until 28 September, 2026.

Even if you don’t play For Honor immediately, it’s still worth downloading, because you can play it at any point once it's added to your library. It’s worth mentioning that once claimed, For Honor will only be playable on PC through the Ubisoft Connect launcher and not Steam.

What exactly is For Honor?

Yes, absolutely. Ubisoft still supports the game with free meaningful content updates. Right now, For Honor is in Year 10, ‘Season 3: Blood Hunt’, which launched on September 10, 2026. The new season has brought in new rewards to unlock for free, as well as its paid battle pass.

Going forward, Ubisoft regularly provides a content roadmap for the game, so that For Honor players know exactly what’s coming, whether it’s free or paid-for content.

How has the For Honor community responded to the game?

On the aggregate website Metacritic, For Honor scored 78 from critics and 6.1 from users.
