Disney Dreamlight Valley Teases Jack Sparrow In New Update
Ever since its early access release in 2022, the life simulation game Disney Dreamlight Valley has been in a state of constant expansion. The well of iconic Disney properties to draw from is virtually endless, and the latest news suggests that the pace of new content won't be slowing down any time soon.
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a new Disney Dreamlight Valley panel has just unveiled a roadmap for the immediate future of the game. While the new content will kick off in the coming week, the most exciting news might be the addition of several beloved characters later this year.
As revealed at D23, the next expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley will officially be titled The Keepsake Sea, and a teaser trailer shows off shipwrecks, coral reef, and sunken treasure. At the end of the teaser, a shadow matching the silhouette of Jack Sparrow swaggers into the frame, delivering the line "Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate," which Jack says to Will in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
There's no date for The Keepsake Sea's release yet, but it's set to arrive "later this year." The roadmap indicates that a showcase stream for the event will happen in October, suggesting that the expansion could launch around November.
At Halloween, Disney Dreamlight Valley fans can also expect the introduction of Oogie Boogie, the bug-filled sack from The Nightmare Before Christmas. This will be part of a "brand-new Halloween event," which will start in September include quests and festivities leading up to the holiday.
Finally, Lilo from Lilo & Stitch will arrive in a free update during the holiday season in December. Stitch has been in Disney Dreamlight Valley since 2022, so this reunion has been a long time coming.
In the meantime, Disney Dreamlight Valley is adding a new Premium Shop collection on August 19 with items inspired by the Disney Channel classics Hannah Montana and Lizzie McGuire. These go full tilt into 2000s fashion, so be prepared for lots of denim.
Ultimately, the last few months of the year are shaping up to be a busy time for Disney Dreamlight Valley. Jack Sparrow might be the biggest highlight, at least for starving Pirates of the Caribbean fans, but the Disney Channel throwbacks and big additions for both Halloween and Christmas should also do some heavy lifting.
