Animal Crossing: New Horizons Officially Returns In New Limited-Time Event Starting August 14

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is among the most popular games of all time, selling over 50 million copies worldwide since its release. Thanks to continued updates and endless replay value, players can't seem to get enough, with more and more gamers flocking to the island every day.

The most recent 3.0 update was a huge incentive for players, adding the resort hotel run by Kapp’n’s family, Slumber Islands, Resetti’s Reset Service, unique LEGO items, Zelda and Splatoon collaborations, bulk crafting of up to 10 items, storage-based crafting materials, and a bunch of quality-of-life improvements.

Aside from this most recent major update, fans have been treated to several pop-up events over the past few years, which typically feature limited-time offerings, seasonal activities, and exclusive items that give players a reason to return to their islands throughout the year. While these events haven’t introduced anything quite as substantial as a full-scale update, they’ve helped keep New Horizons feeling fresh, and fans will be able to partake in a brand-new limited-time event starting tomorrow, August 14, 2026 (via CBR).

Animal Crossing officially returns tomorrow with the Hokkaido Airport Island Pop-Up event in New Chitose Airport. The event will run through August 30, and will feature a unique run of exclusive merch releases only available until the end of the month. Further, you'll be able to grab the same merch at the Sapporo Animal Crossing Daiaru Department Store Island Pop-Up event starting tomorrow as well.

The upcoming New Horizons pop-up events in Hokkaido will feature a broad range of new and returning merchandise inspired by the game’s characters, locations, and in-game items. Among the standout products are a Bell Bag-style drawstring pouch and a foldable Nook’s Cranny shopping bag, both designed to resemble familiar objects from the game.

The event will also introduce capsule-toy collections, including fruit-themed keychains and acrylic charms modeled after Nook Miles Tickets. Other items include Sagara-embroidered character keychains, K.K. Slider music magnets, colorful sticker sheets, plush merchandise, and a snow globe based on an in-game decoration.

Several products draw on the Dodo Airlines theme, such as a neck pillow, sleep mask, mug, slippers, soft glider, and wooden airplane model. Some of these will be exclusive to the New Chitose Airport location. Additional event merchandise includes a Hokkaido Airport shoulder bag and products inspired by Kapp’n’s family resort hotel from the game’s 3.0 update mentioned above.

Visitors will also be able to purchase an Animal Crossing-themed multi-color cosmetic powder, and as an added promotion, customers who spend at least ¥5,000 may receive a limited stick balloon while supplies last.
