Resident Evil Fans Could Finally Get New Requiem DLC Details This Month
Believe it or not, it’s already been seven months since Resident Evil Requiem released. Since then, Capcom has continued to deliver, with an impressive reception for its new sci-fi venture, Pragmata. But as 2026 winds down, many game developers are gearing up to show off what’s next. In fact, September isn’t just stacked with new games ahead of GTA 6. It’s also quickly filling up with game showcases, from the confirmed PlayStation State of Play to a heavily rumored Nintendo Direct. Now, Capcom has thrown its figurative hat into the ring with its own Capcom Spotlight Showcase.
As part of the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026, fans will be treated to a Capcom Spotlight presentation. The stream will take place on September 16th at 10 AM ET. According to the official description, it will bring us “the latest news on Capcom titles.” It’s expected to have a 40-minute runtime. Though Capcom has confirmed the games it’s bringing to the exhibition floor at Tokyo Game Show, the specific lineup for the Capcom Spotlight remains a mystery. But many fans are expecting to hear something about what’s next for Resident Evil.
Resident Evil Fans Could Get New Details on Requiem DLC and Resident Evil: Veronica This Month
Capcom has a pretty solid lineup of major IPs that it could showcase at the upcoming Spotlight. Indeed, we already have a few projects to look forward to in 2027, including the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion and Mega Man: Dual Override. But for many, a Capcom Spotlight means one thing, and one thing only: a shot at big Resident Evil updates. There’s good reason to hope for some RE news during this Spotlight, as Capcom already has a few confirmed projects in the works. And the announcement post confirms that the showcase “may not be suitable for all ages,” which could well mean some horror is involved.
Back in March, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will get a story expansion DLC. Since then, we’ve still gotten basically no official information about what the DLC will entail or when it will be released. That means it’s high time that Capcom gave fans a bit more to look forward to from this upcoming expansion. While not confirmed, a first look at the story expansion for Requiem is certainly a strong possibility for the Capcom Showcase. Whether or not this would include an actual release date remains to be seen.
Of course, the Requiem DLC isn’t the only confirmed RE project in the works at Capcom. The team also unveiled its next remake, Resident Evil: Veronica, which is slated for a vague 2027 release window. This remake aired a fairly in-depth trailer at Summer Game Fest, finally confirming longstanding rumors. However, fans are eager to see more of the remake, including a more specific release window or release date. This project is another likely contender for the Capcom Spotlight lineup, so hopefully we’ll get some new intel soon enough.
As of now, Capcom has not confirmed which games will feature in its showcase. However, it would be pretty surprising if the Spotlight went by without a single Resident Evil update. It’s one of Capcom’s major IPs, and with two projects confirmed in the works with likely 2027 release dates, I’d be pretty surprised if we don’t get at least a little something during the show.
