Tom Hiddleston's Hit Prime Video Thriller Series Gets Promising Season 3 Update
The Night Manager season 3 is continuing to move forward.
While promoting his new documentary series Pompeii: Out of Time, Tom Hiddleston offered an encouraging update on the future of the acclaimed spy thriller, revealing that development on the next installment remains active following the dramatic ending of season 2.
Speaking with Radio Times, Hiddleston confirmed that work on the series is progressing behind the scenes.
"I can tell you it's coming along," Hiddleston said. "It's one of the most profound and significant pieces of work in my acting life. I'm so grateful to The Ink Factory for including me in the journey of generating the material now as we imagine how to develop the story further."
The actor went on to explain why Jonathan Pine continues to resonate with him a decade after audiences first met the character, saying, "I love the story because it's contemporary. I love the character. Jonathan Pine is, without question, one of my favorite characters I've ever played."
Hiddleston has spoken highly of Jonathan Pine for years, and his latest comments reinforce why many fans consider the role one of the finest performances of his career alongside Loki and several of his other acclaimed projects. He also hinted that discussions surrounding season 3 are closely tied to current events.
"I would say our discussions about The Night Manager 3 are very alive right now and very connected to the conversation about our lives right now and the direction of travel in the UK. As we know from the ending of season 2, Jonathan Pine finds himself in a tight spot... wait and see, it's exciting stuff."
Originally debuting in 2016, The Night Manager was adapted from John le Carré's bestselling novel and quickly became one of the year's most acclaimed television dramas. The series starred Hiddleston as former British soldier Jonathan Pine, who is recruited by intelligence officer Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of ruthless arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). The first season earned widespread critical acclaim, winning multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
After years of speculation about whether the story would continue, the BBC and Prime Video officially renewed The Night Manager for both a second and third season in 2024. Season 2 premiered earlier this year, reuniting Hiddleston and Colman while introducing a new conspiracy involving Colombian arms dealer Teddy Dos Santos. The season ended on a devastating cliffhanger that left Jonathan Pine gravely wounded after Richard Roper once again wound up with the upper hand. Given where the story left off, there's already plenty to unpack about how much time could pass before season 3 of The Night Manager begins and where Pine's next mission could take him.
An official release date for The Night Manager season 3 has not yet been announced, but Hiddleston's latest comments suggest development is progressing steadily as the creative team continues shaping Jonathan Pine's next mission.
