RDR2 free mod adds 'dope' Assassin's Creed feature
Red Dead Redemption 2 gets a free mod that gives Arthur Morgan the parkour skills of Ezio Auditore, Edward Kenway and Altaïr, adding a new feature to Rockstar Games' ever-popular open-world Wild West adventure.
With a score of 97 on Metacritic, Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely considered one of the best video games of all time. Rockstar's RDR2 is known for its open-world exploration, memorable NPCs and protagonist, Arthur Morgan.
However, one thing Arthur isn't known for is the free-flowing parkour of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series. The closest he gets is probably running into a one-foot-tall picket fence after a whisky and beer session with Lenny. Thankfully, this new free 'Parkour Mod' changes that.
RDR2 mod gives Arthur Morgan Assassin’s Creed-style parkour
The ‘Parkour Mod’ in question is created by HUUSTL3R, and it’s free to download now via Nexus Mods. As is the nature of all Red Dead Redemption 2 mods, this is a PC exclusive and is not available on PlayStation or Xbox.
“RDR2's movement is slow and limited: a wall stops you, a roof is out of reach. This mod adds real free running and makes the game faster and more dynamic: hold Space to vault fences, climb walls in any direction, pull up onto roofs, jump from roof to roof, land and roll,” reads the description of the mod. “Shoot from a wall, climb wagons and trains.”
As explained on the mod page, Arthur Morgan is pretty limited when it comes to mobility (sorry, Arthur, but it's true). He can barely jump a fence or climb onto boxes, and even when he does, he's rather sluggish. This 'Parkour Mod' makes some substantial gameplay changes and improvements. So, if you've ever wished Arthur was a little more athletic, this is the mod for you.
The 8 best features of the RDR2 ‘Parkour Mod’

Climb walls freely
Arthur can climb walls in almost every way, whether it’s upwards, downwards, sideways and even diagonally.
Leap between rooftops
Arthur now has a greater chance of making a successful rooftop jump, and if he leaps just a little bit too short, there’s a good chance that he will grab a ledge to either pull himself up or drop to the ground.
Vault obstacles without breaking stride
Never fear a one-foot-tall picket fence again! Or low walls, railings, crates and more, for that matter. Running and jumping have never been so easy for Arthur, which will come in handy when being chased by the law.
Climb wagons, coaches and trains
Not limited to just buildings, Arthur can now climb vehicles with ease, including cars and trains.
Scale cliffs and rocky surfaces
Arthur can scale cliffs and rocky surfaces. Sure, he may fall flat on his face at times, but this will no doubt be a useful skill for our lovable outlaw.
Shoot while hanging from a wall
This might actually be the biggest feature of this mod. Arthur can now pull out his sidearm and can aim and fire his weapon while hanging.
Roll after landing from a high jump
Arthur will not only land more smoothly from smaller drops and run more seamlessly, but from high drops, he will trigger a roll in his stride before running away from whatever criminal activity he’s just committed.
Everything sounds natural
This may seem like a subtle element, but the mod uses the game's own sound effects when Arthur is performing his newly found abilities. This should help to prevent breaking your immersion.
It’s worth mentioning that this mod is for Story Mode only, and is not compatible with Red Dead Online. It also retains the original fall damage from Red Dead Redemption 2. Finally, to work, it requires the mods ScriptHookRDR2 and Lenny's Mod Loader. All details can be found on the ‘Parkour Mod’ page.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is backwards compatible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
