Ridley Scott & Amazon Are Teaming To Adapt Bestselling 6-Book Fantasy Franchise
Amazon and Ridley Scott are teaming up for a new adaptation.
Amazon appears to be in the market for adaptations, as the studio is far from slowing down. It was announced that Michael B. Jordan would be teaming up with Amazon to adapt Rebecca Yarros' bestselling fantasy novel, Fourth Wing. Prime Video also recently released the series Off Campus, which was met with a lot of praise and is also an adaptation, as the streaming service hopes to continue the success with even more popular novels.
In an interview with People, author Holly Black of the bestselling novel series Folk of the Air has announced that Amazon, alongside Scott's production company, Scott Free Productions, will be adapting the fantasy franchise for a new series. Black shared her appreciation for the fanbase that has elevated her novels to reach Amazon and Scott for an adaptation:
"Once you put your art into the world, it belongs to you, and it belongs to everybody who interacts with it, right? They’re gonna bounce off of it in ways that you didn’t expect. I am incredibly grateful to still be here, to be having the opportunity to do all the things I’m currently doing, and it is all down to readers. It’s down to readers sticking around."
At the time of writing, there isn't much more information regarding the adaptation. However, it will follow The Folk of the Air series, which includes the novels, The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, and The Queen of Nothing. The central plot of the YA fantasy trilogy follows a mortal girl named Jude Duarte as she's raised in the dangerous High Court of Faerie after the murder of her parents. Jude has to fight for power and respect all while dealing with faerie prince Cardan Greenbriar.
