Disney Kingdom Hearts Anime Series "Coming Soon"

Apart from a launch window and new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV, Disney has also announced Kingdom Hearts: The Series (working title) will be "coming soon" to Disney+ and the Disney Channel.

This original anime series will be developed in partnership with video game creator Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at Square Enix. Here's what you can expect via the official D23 announcement:

"The series reimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world. The news was announced tonight at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event."

Disney Kids & Family president Ayo Davis reiterated how Disney is working closely with the "legendary" Tetsuya Nomura, and said the series will be "unmistakably Kingdom Hearts" while also providing Kingdom Hearts fans "a whole new way to experience the world they love".

Yesterday, Disney Games Group revealed the Kingdom Hearts franchise was one of its nine "billion-dollar" franchises.
