Every Game Coming To PS Plus Essential, Extra, And Premium In August 2026

PlayStation Plus got a makeover in 2022, when the subscription service was split into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Essential is the cheapest option and gives you access to online features, plus a handful of free games each month. Extra costs a little more and gets you everything that Essential comes with, plus access to a library of PS5 and PS4 titles. Then you have Premium, the most expensive tier, which includes all of that, a selection of classic games to play, and other features, including PS Portal cloud streaming capabilities.

Regardless of the tier to which you're subscribed, PS Plus is constantly changing. New games are added to all three tiers every month, and games leave its Extra and Premium libraries. I'm here to let you know which games are arriving each month, as well as which ones you'll need to play soon since they're on their way out. Below you'll find what's coming this Augusy, as well as what you might have missed last month.

PS Plus Essential

Subscribe to the cheapest tier of PS Plus, Essential, and not only can you play games online, but you are presented with at least three games to add to your library for no additional charge. Even though those games are only available to claim for a month, they will remain playable in your library for as long as your PS Plus subscription is active.

Three games will swoop in to replace July's Essential offerings on August 4, headlined by Big Walk, a game I've been looking forward to for months. Big Walk is a rare example of a brand new game releasing on PS Plus day one. It's the latest creation from the minds behind Untitled Goose Game and is effectively a hangout game where you mess around, have fun, and solve puzzles with friends.

Joining Big Walk on Essential this month is Dying Light 2. The sequel to Techland's popular zombie game, if you enjoyed that first game, you're almost certainly going to love this. Rounding out the Essential offerings for August is Signalis. Certainly not one to be slept on, Signalis is fantastic and a must for anyone who likes when their modern games feel like they've been pulled from a different era.

None of the Extra games joining PS Plus in August have been revealed yet. However, the new staggered rollout means we only just got the last ones for July. We likely won't know which new games are coming to the Extra library until around halfway through the month.

One of the bigger Extra additions last month was PlayStation exclusive Rise of the Ronin. The samurai game arrived on Plus on July 15, or July 16 in Japan. Wherever you are, if you have Plus, it's available now.

Joining it on July 21 was another big, and in my opinion, criminally overlooked game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. A gorgeous game that takes place in the same world as the movies, and one Ubisoft has continued to support despite it seemingly not leaving the kind of mark that the Avatar movies do. Firefighting Simulator: Ignite joined PS Plus Extra the same day.

The biggest Extra drop of July was saved until the end of the month. Four of July's seven Extra games dropped on July 28. That quartet included Power Rangers beat 'em up Rita's Rewind, and the original Dying Light - something to soften the blow after The Beast's last-gen port got shelved this week.

PS Plus Premium

Much like Extra, we don't typically know which games are coming to Premium until later in the month. That's a little different this time, as PlayStation let us know one of the games that will be joining its most expensive tier ahead of time.

That game is Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. Onimusha returns with an entirely new game in September, and before that, you will be able to revisit this PS2 game from its past to prepare yourself. There were two Premium games in July for the first time in a long time. Hopefully that means Dawn of Dreams won't be the only Premium game we get this month.

Leaving PS Plus

Whenever new games are added to PS Plus, others must make way. Nine games are leaving PS Plus this August, so play them now before it's too late, or before you have to pay for them. Unicorn Overlord, Harold Halibut, and Dead Island 2 are among the nine departing the service before the end of the month. Worth noting that these are Extra games, not Essential ones. That means once they leave Plus, you won't be able to play them anymore unless you've paid for them, whether you have Plus or not.
