When is the Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 release date?

The Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 release date is 17 September 2026, the developer has confirmed.

Yep, you'll soon be able to return to the Dawn of War RTS series after nine years away!

There's just enough time to catch up on everything you need to know about the game before it launches – including its pre-order details.

Can I pre-order Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4?

Yes, you can pre-order Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 on Steam right now.

You can save a bit of cash by pre-ordering the game on Loaded, too!

There are two versions of Dawn of War 4 to pre-order: the Standard Edition and the Commander Edition.

The Commander Edition comes with three days early access, meaning you can play it from 14 September instead of 17 September.

You'll also get the Year 1 expansion and Digital Soundtrack for picking up the Commander Edition.

The Year 1 expansion includes the Blood Ravens story prologue, new faction, campaign expansion and more such as four map packs.

Which consoles and platforms can play Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4?

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 is playable only on Windows PC via Steam.

There is no sign of the game appearing on any other platforms and considering it is an RTS, it is unlikely that it will ever be released on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo consoles.

Time will tell, of course, but it's likely that Dawn of War 4 will remain a PC exclusive game.

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 gameplay and story details

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 4 gameplay is promising to return the series "to its roots with classic Dawn of War [RTS] gameplay and a combat system to bring Warhammer 40,000's bloodthirsty combat to life like never before."

The game's Steam listing explains that in it, you'll "grow your force, build your base of operations, specialise your squads, and savour an expanded Sync Kill system that delivers an unprecedented degree of melee combat detail."

At launch, there are four factions in Dawn of War 4, each with their own campaign that can be played solo or in co-op.

The four launch factions are the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The Blood Ravens are also there, with a story prologue included in the Commander Edition of the game.

Of course, there is multiplayer as well as singleplayer.

Expect a variety of online multiplayer modes in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 offerings!
