Terminator Meets Fallout In This Free Survival Game

If you're a sci-fi fan, you're eating well on Steam. New classics are released on a near-monthly basis, and the sky really is the limit when it comes to the imagination of sci-fi architects. There are so many possibilities you can muster up just by traveling off-planet, for example, but post-apocalyptic stories have a ton of potential too.

Just look at Fallout. While we know that the world is a nuclear wasteland in canon, we've also gotten a look at what makes the world of Fallout tick, and some humor to boot.

Over on Steam now, you can find a game that mixes Terminator with some other famous post-apocalyptic media. The best part is that it's completely free, as the studio decided to release it at no cost rather than at its original price.

This Free Steam Game Has Real Terminator Vibes

Live on Steam now for free by developer GameChangeKiller, you can play Zero Hour Night, which is sort of like a cross between Terminator and Fallout. For the former, instead of evading Terminator-like entities during the present day, you're doing it after Judgment Day. Like the fate of humanity in The Matrix, the sun is gone, and machines ruleEarth.

Here's a breakdown: "Welcome to a world where the sun will never rise again. In Zero Hour: Night, you are one of the few survivors in an urban wasteland occupied by ruthless, autonomous machines. Darkness is no longer just your surroundings—it is your constant companion and your greatest enemy. After the world plunged into eternal shadow, robots seized control. Your mission is as simple as it is deadly: scavenge the ruins for vital resources, find valuable components, and use a workbench to arm yourself against the constant threat."

The game has multiple islands and locations to explore, either by swimming or traveling by helicopter.

Keep in mind that this game has some technical limitations, and it's from a developer on the "beginning of [their] game development journey." The creator says that they plan to develop more games in the future, and they're aiming to look at the simulator or horror genres next.

Originally, the game was going to be $10.99 USD, but it became a free project later that month. The last major updates arrived in June, including bug fixes, graphical improvements, and the addition of a helicopter. Enemy variety was also a focus around this stage.

If you need something free to play on Steam, though, Zero Hour Night could be your next game.
