Viture's New Pro 2 XR Glasses Prove Specs Aren't Everything

I recently had a chance to test out my first pair of Viture XR Glasses with their flagship model, Viture Beast. This product blew me away and has since become a major part of how I enjoy media. So when I was offered the opportunity to test out the company’s Pro 2 model as part of the Fifth Anniversary Collection, I jumped at the chance.
This collection also includes the Mobile Dock Mini, a more compact version of the Pro Mobile Dock. While I haven’t had a chance to test that out just yet, the Viture Pro 2 glasses quickly proved that XR glasses don’t need flagship specs to deliver an incredible experience by putting your clarity, comfort, and affordability first while gaming, watching movies, or even just browsing the internet.
Comfort Over Power, Is It Worth It?
When it comes to choosing between comfort and power, it ultimately comes down to how much power you require to meet your everyday needs and what you can afford. Viture’s main lineup runs from about $399-$599, but the new Pro 2 glasses retail for just $299. So, what’s the catch?
Since the Pro 2 glasses are designed in favor of comfort and affordability, they do lack some of the features you’ll find on other models. The Pro 2 has a 50-degree FOV, 1080p resolution, and up to 1,600 Nits of brightness. By comparison, the Beast glasses offer a 58-degree FOV, 1200p resolution, up to 1,260 Nits, and features like built-in screen customization, including one-click screen docking. That said, while specs are important, they aren’t everything. Instead of chasing better numbers, the Pro 2 glasses focus on improving the overall experience.
When I put on the Pro 2 glasses, I was initially put off by the smaller screen size, but immediately won over by the immense clarity. I love Viture’s Beast glasses, but part of the reason I dock my screen while using them is that the image quality becomes fuzzy towards the edges, making screen docking the best way to get around this drawback.
The Pro 2 glasses simply don’t have this problem. I thought it was because the screen was smaller, but even when I changed the display size on the Beast glasses, it was still nowhere near as crisp as the Pro 2. From corner to corner, everything is as sharp as you’d see it on a full-screen TV.
The main visual drawback I noticed was how the outside world tended to peek through the screen more than I’d like unless the brightness was cranked up — similar to VR headsets or other devices of this ilk that demand much of your vision. Thankfully, the glasses come with a free lens shade that snaps onto the front, which solves the issue entirely.
When the brightness was higher, I did notice that the glasses felt noticeably warmer to the touch than I can ever recall the Viture Beast glasses feeling.
As part of the comfort-first mindset, the Pro 2 glasses also come with something Viture’s Beast glasses do not: a built-in diopter. This allows most players to fine-tune their glasses directly without the need for any prescription lens attachments.
I don’t wear prescription lenses, so unfortunately I can’t speak to how well this works for those that do, but I did make some micro adjustments and was able to see a noticeable change in clarity. Paired with the range of nose pads and other adjustments that can be made, the Pro 2 is designed with every face and pair of eyes in mind.
So, is the comfort and clarity worth the loss of more notable features on higher-end models? The answer is a resounding yes. Some of the comfort features, like being more lightweight than other models, did go mostly unnoticed to me while wearing them, but the improved screen clarity alone had my eyes thanking me.
I’m a night owl with a partner who goes to bed early, so I used the Pro 2 glasses for sometimes three to four hours at a time with my Lenovo Legion Go 2 to avoid disrupting my partner and didn’t experience any discomfort or noticeable eye strain when taking them off. On top of that, the audio was also loud and clear enough for me to hear, even at a low volume, while being practically silent to my partner lying only a few inches away.
As for hardware compatibility, it’s largely unchanged in comparison to the rest of Viture’s lineup. The glasses connect via a dual-end USB-C cord that can be directly plugged into items like a smartphone or Steam Deck, while computers will additionally require the SpaceWalker app, and consoles like the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 will require one of Viture’s Mobile Docks to make them compatible.
Who Are The Viture Pro 2 XR Glasses For?
The Viture Pro 2 glasses aren’t designed to replace Viture’s flagship lineup, and they don’t need to. Instead, they deliver exactly what they promise: a comfortable, sharp, affordable experience that meets the needs of most users.
If you’re looking for your first pair of XR glasses, this is the easiest recommendation I could make. Save the pricier models for those who know they’ll take advantage of those premium features.
