The Odyssey has sailed past yet another huge milestone.
2026's The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem of the same name that was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie, which features a massive, star-studded cast that includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson, has proven to be a massive box office sensation. In addition to earning the fourth-biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, it rocketed past the $1 billion milestone worldwide, giving 2026 the most billion-dollar hits of the decade so far (alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Toy Story 5, Michael, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie).
Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, The Odyssey is projected to earn a 3-day total of $23 million by the end of its fifth weekend in theaters, bringing its cumulative domestic gross to $504.4 million. This sees it closing out the first full month of its run by becoming the 24th movie in history to ever hit the half-billion domestic milestone. Only one previous Christopher Nolan movie has done so, namely 2008's The Dark Knight ($535 million domestic).
Worldwide, The Odyssey is Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing movie ever, not adjusted for inflation.
