Pokemon Fans Can Now Claim a Free Pikachu Promo Card (Here’s How to Get It)
Next week is a pretty big deal for Pokemon fans, especially those who follow competitive play. The Pokemon World Championships take place from August 28th to the 30th in San Francisco, California. And this year is extra special, as the first-ever official Pokemon fan convention, Pokemon XP, will take place alongside the competition. Many of the events will be livestreamed, so even those unable to attend in person can follow along. In addition, the 2026 World Championships Pikachu Promo card is available at retailers for fans who won’t be able to snag one in San Francisco.
Each year, Pokemon releases a special promo card to commemorate the World Championships. The card typically features a special promo stamp. Unlike many items that will be available only at Worlds and Pokemon XP, the Pikachu promo card is available as a free gift with purchase at multiple popular Pokemon TCG retailers. This year’s free promo card is available from August 21st to August 30th, provided that supplies last. It is available exclusively in person at participating locations. So far, it looks like Pokemon Center website will not give away the card this year. Instead, they’re offering an exclusive commemorative coin.
Pokemon TCG 2026 World Championship Pikachu Promo In Stores Now
The Pokemon Company revealed the design for this year’s Pokemon World Championship promo a while back. Now, however, it’s finally available in stores for fans to collect. The card will be awarded as a participation prize for those taking part in the Pokemon Championships. But if you aren’t headed to Worlds, you can still claim the stamped promo as a free gift with purchase at Best Buy, GameStop, and Hot Topic here in the United States.
To get the free Pikachu promo card, you’ll need to make a Pokemon TCG purchase in person at participating Best Buy, GameStop, and Hot Topic locations. This will, of course, require that said stores have any product in stock for you to buy. The promotion will run through August 30th, but the true end date depends on how long stores are able to keep the promos (and Pokemon TCG product) in stock.
Pokemon Center Reveals Exclusive Pokemon XP & Pokemon World Championships Coin
In past years, the Pokemon Center has also given away the promo card for Worlds. However, this year could be a bit different. The site is currently teasing a special commemorative coin “coming soon.” It will be an exclusive gift with purchase, available only via the Pokemon Center website. The coin features the artwork for Pokemon XP and the 2026 Pokemon World Championships, with San Francisco 2026 on the other side. Since this is the first year for Pokemon XP, it’s kind of fun to have a special exclusive item to commemorate the experience.
The coin isn’t yet available as a free gift with purchase, so we don’t have all the details. If you want to get ahold of one of these limited-edition, Pokemon Center exclusive coins, you may want to hold your online purchases until the promotion is live. With Pokemon XP and Worlds just a week away, it’s likely that the coin will be available soon enough.
