Final Fantasy 14 Has Officially Shown Off Its New Tank Job
Final Fantasy 14 Has Finally Revealed Its New Tank Job
Final Fantasy 14 is undergoing some big changes when the next expansion, Evercold, launches next year. Not only will we be getting a complete combat overhaul, but director Yoshi-P has stated multiple times that certain systems we know will be dramatically altered to begin to respect player time a little more. It's all very exciting.
However, some things are staying the same, such as Final Fantasy 14 getting two new jobs to play upon the release of Evercold, a physical ranged job, and a tank job. We still don't know what the physical ranged job is going to be, but as promised back during the game's North American Fan Fest, we finally got our first look at the tank job.
Final Fantasy 14's New Tank Job Has Been Revealed
Of course, we got the first tease about this tank job back during North America's Fan Fest, with a classic Yoshi-P shirt hint that revealed the character Rhitahtyn Sas Arvina, one of the main baddies in A Realm Reborn that uses two large shields with cannons equipped as his weapon of choice. That led many to believe the shirt hint was quite literal, and the tank job would be Gunshield or something similar, but we finally got confirmation from Yoshi-P during Berlin's Fan Fest.
Shown off at the show's keynote in an updated trailer for Evercold, it was revealed that the new tank job will indeed have Gunshields. Unfortunately, it does appear to be the weapon of choice for an original character rather than an existing Scion, but it's still very cool to see weapons first introduced so long ago finally become usable.
As for how the job plays, we know it will be a Main tank job, as it was outlined at the previous Fan Fest that the tank roles are being split up more notably between Main and Off tanks (my condolences once again, Warriors), so we know it will be skilled at taking damage and countering the damage that enemies dish out.
