Hogwarts Legacy Officially Switches Genres In This Free DLC
While it isn't necessarily a massive surprise that Hogwarts Legacy is getting an official sequel, Warner Bros. have officially confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development, and it's an exciting update nonetheless if you're a longtime fan of the original. While there still aren't any major confirmed details or a specific release window, fans are expecting Hogwarts Legacy 2 to build on the established formula and hopefully improve some of the less refined gameplay features.
In light of the exciting news, Hogwarts Legacy fans are likely to dive in for a fresh playthrough in the coming months, if they haven't already. As such, if you're looking for a unique experience in the game that some players may not realize is even an option, there's a free DLC available that completely switches the game's genre, turning it into a bona fide horror experience.
Hogwarts Legacy Going Full-On Horror Is A Twist
If you haven't heard of it already by now, the Haunted Hogsmeade quest, officially titled "Minding Your Own Business," is one of Hogwarts Legacy's more unusual side quests. It begins when the player is offered the chance to purchase a shop in Hogsmeade from Cassandra Mason, with house-elf Penny helping to run the business. Things quickly turn sinister when the player investigates a mysterious chest inside the shop.
The quest shifts into a horror-inspired adventure filled with dark corridors, changing rooms, now-infamously terrifying mannequins, unique puzzles, and supernatural threats that are beyond the realm of what you typically see throughout the rest of the game.
Players are meant to navigate this somewhat labyrinthine environment, uncover the truth behind the shop, and eventually confront those responsible for the ordeal. Completing the quest allows the player to operate their own Hogsmeade shop and also provides additional exclusive rewards.
Haunted Hogsmede Is Free On All Platforms
Originally released as a PlayStation-exclusive DLC, "Minding Your Own Business" became available to players on other platforms as part of a 2024 update. Now, it’s included automatically as part of the game, so you don’t need to buy or download any special Haunted Hogsmeade quest as a separate DLC or anything like that.
Seeing as Hogwarts Legacy has very little traditional DLC, Haunted Hogsmeade is somewhat unique. The main paid add-on is the Dark Arts Pack, which includes cosmetics, a Thestral mount, and the Dark Arts Battle Arena, while other extras are mostly cosmetic bonuses tied to certain editions or promotions.
While the Haunted Hogsmeade quest is now included for all platforms, there have not been any major story expansions adding a large new area or lengthy post-game campaign, so this is definitely one of the most unique Hogwarts Legacy quests on offer.
