GTA 6 reveal expected as Rockstar Games prepares for another surprise following The Album

With just eight weeks to go until Grand Theft Auto VI’s launch, it’s very unlikely that Rockstar Games is going to pass up the opportunity to fuel our hype.

It recently did just that with the reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album - and it looks as if that could be followed up with another new announcement today.

GTA VI: The Album will launch alongside the game on November 19, with gamers already able to pre-order both CD and vinyl copies.

The album will feature 34 tracks with six songs already having been released by artists including Keith Richards, Morgan Wallen, PinkPantheress, and Travis Scott.

It’s now looking as if Rockstar Games may be following up the album’s unveiling with the first drop of GTA VI-related merch after a number of suspicious updates were spotted as having taken place.

A bot monitoring changes to Rockstar Games’ website and sharing those changes to Discord has recorded multiple updates on the Rockstar Store.

These updates were shared by popular Twitter/X account videotech, who said that they “added the ability to wishlist items that are not in stock and be emailed when stock returns”.

The imminent arrival of merchandise is speculative for now, but it’s certainly logical speculation.

The appetite for the game is unlike anything the entertainment industry has ever experienced, so merchandise would surely fly off the shelves like hot cakes.

You need only look at last week’s album drop for proof of that; the $100+ limited-edition vinyl record sold out in mere minutes before many could even get a look at it.

Merchandise is also free marketing. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive would surely be thrilled at thousands walking around in T-shirts with GTA VI logos emblazoned on their chest.

Rockstar Games has made an announcement every Thursday for four weeks running

As we all know by now, Thursday is quite a significant day for Rockstar Games. Why? Well, it’s when the studio prefers to make its announcements.

GTA VI: An Extended Look landed on Thursday, August 27. The GTA VI limited-edition DualSense controllers were revealed on Thursday, September 3, with pre-orders opening the Thursday after, September 10.

Last Thursday, GTA VI: The Album was confirmed on September 17, which makes you wonder whether we’re going to get something every Thursday until launch.

GTA VI’s pre-load begins on Thursday, November 12, so it does feel like some sort of unofficial countdown.

With these updates to the store, merch will surely surface on one Thursday between now and launch.

Let’s not forget, though, that following last week’s GTA VI: The Album announcement, Rockstar Games also teased that it wouldn’t be long before we heard more about the game’s “dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio, and more”.

On the topic of merch, it’s something fans clearly want - even if they’re not quite prepared for it.

“Rockstar stop please… my wallet is starting to cry,” said redyslav.

“If they drop GTA VI merch, I’m buying for sure. I didn’t really care about the album. I liked the songs, but the physical editions feel useless to me, but merchandise is peak,” added Rockstar_news11.

A hopeful GermanStrands said, “Collector’s Box would be awesome.” You can say that again. A Collector’s Edition certainly would be preferable to t-shirts and other standard merch items.
