Little Latke Gets Some Spud-Tacular Packaging From Wonderkind

  • Little Latkes is a new, shelf-stable take on the traditional Jewish holiday staple.
  • Wonderkind’s branding and packaging design are quirky and playful, with universal appeal. The wordmark features typography designed by Tommi Sharp, who carved the letterforms from real potatoes.

Latkes, fried potato fritters, are traditionally eaten during Hanukkah and are commonly served with sour cream and applesauce or eaten plain. But latkes also happen to be a versatile canvas for all sorts of different toppings, whether they’re savory, sweet, spicy, or salty, like fried eggs, horseradish, lox and cream cheese, honey, or even caviar, if you’re feeling fancy.

The thing about latkes, however, is that they have to be prepared fresh or otherwise frozen, then reheated in the oven. Usually, you have to grate potatoes, painstakingly squeeze out all the moisture, and then fry them up whenever you have a hankering for latkes. The effort required might be why latkes are usually limited to Hanukkah, but a new brand called Little Latkes has set out to make these potato fritters a year-round thing with a shelf-stable version.
