The Salad Project launches digital flagship by Unfound Studio

Founded by Florian de Chezelles and James Dare, London quick-service restaurant brand The Salad Project has grown to 16 stores across the capital, earning a spot among the UK’s 50 fastest-growing private companies.

To ensure its online presence kept pace with its physical growth, the brand appointed creative agency Unfound Studio to design and build a digital flagship structured around customer behaviour.

A translucent menu overlay listing salad options like Big Feta Energy and The GOAT set against a background of water-dappled kale leaves. Two mobile screen mockups side-by-side; the left displays a close-up of a green leaf with text "Real fuel for your real days", and the right displays a single cherry tomato on a silver spoon with text "Lunch, locked in."

Data indicates that 91% of restaurant guests consult a menu online before visiting a venue, while 70% prefer ordering directly through a restaurant’s own platform. Unfound Studio addressed these consumer preferences by developing a digital platform that removes barriers to ordering while establishing a distinct online identity.

Beyond streamlining transactions, the project introduces a flexible content infrastructure that allows internal teams to update website content regularly while maintaining visual consistency across touchpoints.

A unified hub for expansion

The new digital platform acts as a centralised hub integrating third-party fulfilment services, bespoke catering channels, and an e-commerce storefront for branded merchandise. Designed to support the restaurant’s upcoming expansion into Paris, the platform consolidates disparate ordering channels within a single brand experience.

Unfound Studio also refined The Salad Project’s visual system and tone of voice. The studio created bespoke photography shot directly on store counters, depicting menu items with wooden cutlery alongside branded beverages. Visuals were crafted around three defined audience personas to show how the brand fits into varied daily routines. Additionally, the agency produced hero campaign assets and video content for the brand’s loyalty programme from initial concept through to post-production.

Elevating online food ordering

Discussing the project, Jay Topham, founder and creative director at Unfound Studio, said, “Food websites are usually quite transactional. The Salad Project’s stores are so good because the experience is exceptional, so the site had to work the same way. From UI to content, we delivered a newly defined digital flagship that not only gets you to your salad sooner, but serves up the same best-in-class experience online that diners have come to love IRL.”

Courtenay Lewis, the head of brand at The Salad Project, added, “We came to Unfound with a challenge: to create a website experience that shows people exactly what makes The Salad Project the best salad bar in the world. To say they took the bull by the horns and made it happen would be an understatement. From day one, our work together was a completely collaborative, zero-judgement process, one that let us think bigger and find the most creative solutions.”

The new platform is now live at saladproject.co.uk.
