Fred Eversley – Parabolic Lenses monograph and Cylindrical Lenses exhibition poster

Polymode designed the first monograph for Fred Eversley, a space and light artist with a background in aerospace engineering. Eversley (1941–2025) created resin-cast parabolic lenses, colorfully mathematical and scientific pieces that are dynamic and simply beautiful. This monograph is one of Polymode’s first actual uses of their Polymode typeface, specifically the Acting Basic style. Its minimalist, futuristic quality, even rhythm, and additional gradient treatment mirrors Eversley’s work without overshadowing it.

The studio later designed a double-sided poster for Eversley’s Cylindrical Lenses 2023 exhibition at David Kordansky Gallery in New York:

Our subtle design metaphorically and literally mirrors the materiality and fullness of Eversley’s sleek resin sculptures by reproducing the front and reverse of the piece. Eversley’s use of reflection and refraction is further highlighted by capturing a glimpse of the viewer on the reverse. Our decision to use the most minimal state of Polymode Sans Light in a rose color with a slight play in hue reinforces his minimalist aesthetic and dynamic use of color and shine showcasing the allure of Eversley’s sculptural work.
