A livestock bell and a shepherd's staff become one Greek meat brand's mark
Most food brands treat provenance as a line of small print on the back of the pack. For Voskon Topoi, a new Greek meat brand built on domestic livestock farming, Athens studio Luminous Design made it the whole idea — starting with the name. Voskon Topoi translates as “Shepherds’ Lands”, putting the landscape itself, rather than the product, at the centre of the brand.
The logo design distils two objects any Greek shepherd would recognise: the livestock bell and the crooked staff. The lettering is packed into the swollen silhouette of a bell, and the staff’s hook rises out of the top as a handle — which is why the mark works so well as a projecting shop sign, where it reads as the object it depicts before it reads as a logo.
From there the brand identity widens into a full system: a warm gold-on-black badge embroidered onto workwear, directional marks that echo the bell’s clapper strokes, and photography shot in the same pastures the meat comes from. The result carries the memory of pastoral culture without falling back on the usual rustic clichés.
