Inside the Craft of Dermi: Packaging Design by Robot Food
Robot Food creates a playful packaging design system for Dermi, translating laboratory science into tactile refillable skincare for tweens.
Tweens explore skincare much earlier today. Yet most store shelves offer confusing chemical claims or dull parental oversight. Dermi meets this audience with honesty and fun. The brand introduces a simple three-step daily habit. It balances sound skincare routines with playful daily joy. Robot Food built the brand world around what they call edu-play-tion. This strategy swaps complex ten-step routines for three clear steps. Saturated color blocks, cellular shapes, and fruit textures make skin health approachable. This focused packaging design treats young users as capable learners rather than small kids.
Refillable Vessels and Tactile Packaging Design Architecture
Clean type choices build fast hierarchy on boxes and bottles. A round lowercase logotype anchors the face of the brand. Its backward open e letterform adds a cheeky twist to each pack. Below this mark, Robot Food uses monospaced text for step numbers and liquid sizes. Clear labels name each step and product role with crisp accuracy. Action verbs like lather, blitz, and quench give the words quick energy. Expressive 3D icons like avocados and flowers mark specific ingredients. This dual type system brings clinical clarity to the packaging design while staying fresh on social feeds.
The physical materials unite bold retail presence with smart refills. Outer paperboard boxes use color blocks in teal, soft purple, and bright orange. These distinct tones sort the three steps on store shelves. Inside, custom refillable containers bring laboratory shapes into daily life. The cleanser uses an angled laboratory flask shape with a teal cap. The toner sits in a frosted jar with a twist lid. The sunscreen bottle features a round orange ball pump. Sturdy foil refill pouches supply fresh liquid with far less plastic waste. Through this layered packaging design, Robot Food builds a lasting ritual for young skin.
