Forthcoming from Phaidon, Another View: The Vibrant World of Contemporary Black Artists invites readers into 20 distinctive studios. Celebrating some of the most prominent artists working today—such as Nick Cave, Nina Chanel Abney, Hank Willis Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, Kerry James Marshall, and many more—the seminal volume highlights a range of behind-the-scenes material.

The introduction to Another View was written by lauded literary critic, filmmaker, and professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. who “explores the historical precedents and critical context that led to the exciting current moment of Black contemporary art in America,” writes Phaidon. Across nearly 200 pages, the book includes 150 never-before-seen photographs, exclusive interviews, and profiles.
