Nativo Puts Frozen Food on the Front Line Against Food Waste

Frozen food is getting a rethink as shoppers look for practical ways to keep good food from becoming waste, and the student project Nativo makes that idea its entire packaging system.

Eva Chistyakova borrows the visual language of Karl Troll’s climate maps, wrapping each bag in rippling contour lines that gather around simple shapes of strawberries, cauliflower and vegetables as though the food itself is part of a changing landscape. Those map-inspired illustrations connect what we eat to the climate around us, while also telling a story about freezing food as a way to preserve produce for longer instead of letting it end up in the bin.

It is a refreshing change from the usual perfect produce imagery, turning the frozen aisle into a conversation about how keeping food longer can make everyday eating a little less wasteful.
