Browserbase: A brand family built to push the web's limits
Browserbase helps developers automate tasks on the web and take on projects that traditional automation tools make difficult or impossible. In its first couple of years, Browserbase grew from browser automation infrastructure into a broader developer platform, with separately branded tools like Stagehand and Director and a fast-growing community. That growth called for a brand identity that could bring its expanding product family together, and establish Browserbase as the place developers turn to take on their most ambitious automation projects.
Family Style, the brand strategy and identity studio led by Hannah Swann and Jess Walker, shaped the brand around the opinion driving Browserbase: the web's limits are something developers can push beyond. The studio translated that conviction into a sense of ambitious technical possibility—the excitement of asking, "Could I actually build that with Browserbase?" The imagery combines sweeping landscapes with a structured pixel grid. The landscapes suggest exploration, while the grid connects them to computing. A layout system inspired by De Stijl gives the compositions a clear structure.
Family Style drew the color palette from the 1960s, a period associated with experimentation and change, and adapted it for digital screens. The main typeface is easy to read, with subtle science-fiction references in its curved terminals and italics. A secondary monospaced typeface adds another connection to computing.
Family Style brought Stagehand and Director into a shared brand family, with Browserbase as the parent. Each product keeps a distinct identity, while its name and design make the connection to Browserbase clear. The shared identity makes Browserbase more recognizable as its product family grows.
A common palette, typography, image style, and grid connect all three. Within that system, Stagehand uses mid-weight headlines, square forms, and tool imagery to emphasize reliability and control. Director uses lighter headlines, circular forms, and a blue palette to communicate empowerment and momentum.
Family Style also built a custom image tool so the Browserbase team could create new assets themselves. It processes images and video into the brand's grid-based style, with controls for shape, scale, contrast, and color. The identity rolled out across the product, digital channels, marketing campaigns, and live events, while the strategy and practical tools give the team a clear point of view to keep developing the brand. Across its products and wherever the brand appears, the message is clear: Browserbase gives developers a way to build beyond the web's limits.
