playful covers made of bio-based PLA+ rethink the conventional light switch
Kovr Studio rethinks the look of the conventional light switch
Small details can influence the overall coherence of an interior, including elements such as light switches that are often overlooked. Standard white switch plates can contrast with painted or wallpapered walls, introducing a visual interruption within otherwise carefully coordinated surfaces. Kovr Studio addresses this detail with modular switch covers designed to alter the appearance of existing switches without tools or adhesive. The covers can be installed and removed within seconds, providing a simple way to integrate the switch into the surrounding interior.

bio-based PLA+ derived from corn starch shapes the Kovr covers
Each cover is handmade in Kovr Studio’s workshop in Lille using precision digital fabrication tools. The production process combines digital fabrication with individual finishing, allowing each piece to be produced and refined separately. The covers are made from PLA+, a bio-based plastic derived from corn starch. The material was selected for its strength and flexibility, allowing the covers to withstand repeated installation and removal while maintaining their structural integrity.
