HallPass Wants Permission to Cheat, But In a Good Way

  • HallPass is a new candy brand from the founders of David protein bars, with branding and packaging designed by Day Job.
  • HallPass can make lower-calorie claims by using the fat substitute EPG, a substance made by parent company Medici.

Following the success of protein bar brand David, founder Peter Rahal, along with Stuffed Puffs founder Michael Tierney, has launched the better-for-you candy brand HallPass. The new candy touts only 70 calories and 1 gram of sugar per serving and, like David products, achieves this by using the fat substitute Esterified Propoxylated Glycerol (EPG), owned by parent company Medici. Hallpass is also sweetened with soluble corn fiber, sucralose, allulose, and acesulfame potassium.
