Rachel Comey and Unreal Transform the Candy Wrapper Into Runway-Ready Fashion

Fashion and food are increasingly trading materials and visual codes, and the Coco Bag takes that crossover literally.

Fashion brand Rachel Comey turns UNREAL’s familiar silver wrapper interior into the bag’s entire exterior, giving disposable snack packaging the presence of a crinkled metallic evening bag. Inside, saturated stripes of teal, yellow, pink, orange, and red pull from both brands, creating a fun surprise against the industrial silver while cleverly echoing the color-coded world of UNREAL’s packs.

With almost no typography or illustration to explain the idea, the material itself becomes the graphic language, pushing packaging design beyond the shelf and into something collectible, functional, and made to be carried. I’ve seen a fair share of brands design handbags (i.e., Capri SunBetty Crocker, and Rao’s), but this is one that I’d actually be interested in carrying.
