Brand Identity: Butequim Cocktail Bar by Estúdio Lippi
Estúdio Lippi crafted a raw brand identity for Butequim cocktail bar in Amsterdam, pairing duotone red and black with visceral street culture.
Founders Rafael and Bruno spotted a cultural gap in Amsterdam nightlife. They brought the informal spirit of Rio de Janeiro’s neighborhood botecos to Spuistraat. The intentional spelling with a "U" embraces imperfection. It breaks away from sterile conventions while asserting high mixology ambitions. Estúdio Lippi anchored this brand identity in creative tension. The system collides casual street traditions with rigorous Swiss Style typographic discipline. Rejecting polished hospitality tropes, the studio built an uncompromising duotone palette. Crimson red and pitch black frame late-night revelry with stark brutalist restraint.
A Brutalist Duotone Brand Identity for Rio Boteco Culture
An organic hand-drawn script logotype sits at the center of the identity. Its fluid curves trace the condensation ring left by an ice-cold glass on a bar table. Estúdio Lippi contrasts this gestural mark against rigid sans-serif typography, structured coordinates (52.3731° N 4.8892° E), and technical architectural elevations. The layout system uses severe negative space. Crimson borders confine editorial posters where operating hours and drink menus flank flash-lit cocktails. Secondary marks scale effortlessly across touchpoints. A circular BTQ monogram and concentric oval "B" emblems appear on embroidered dad caps and print collateral.
Tactile human immersion separates this brand identity from typical bar branding. Rather than relying on static paper menus, the visual language claims the body. Custom silver chrome dental grillz spell out BUTEQUIM across teeth. Buzzcut hair typography is etched into skin fades. Branded citrus peel garnishes rest inside cut-crystal glassware. Direct flash photography captures cocktails garnished with Amazonian jambu leaves beside Scrabble tiles spelling the venue name. Estúdio Lippi proves that a hospitality brand identity can honor vernacular drinking rituals while delivering an uncompromising modern edge.
