Liminal
One&Other designed the full brand for Liminal, a Melbourne restaurant from The Mulberry Group built around the idea of a space in transition. This idea is used quite literally too, with white space playing a thoughtful role throughout packaging, menu, signage, and site design. The palette stays warm and earthy with a light terracotta and deep forest green against a system that otherwise stays stark and minimal. The type selection is where the project becomes more interesting and layered. The Bold Condensed Italic style of Lydian Warren Chappell’s enduring display face for ATF, is the unexpected anchor for the brand. It’s reading surprisingly modern, with Maple as its companion: a sturdy, character-rich grotesque sans serif from Process Type Foundry.
