Brand Identity Design: ATELIER 99 by Tolgahan Çalışkan
Discover the brand identity design for ATELIER 99 by Tolgahan Çalışkan, featuring custom refined logotype anatomy and workshop print craft.
Graphic designer Tolgahan Çalışkan developed this comprehensive brand identity design starting with a bespoke logotype system. The renewal began by studying traditional serif letterforms and refining their classical proportions into a contemporary silhouette. Çalışkan flattened the corner protrusions originally found along the letter stems, establishing an upright, clean, and confident stance. The serif endings were reshaped with flat terminals that mirror the stem geometry. A distinct adjustment occurs in the uppercase letter E, where the top and bottom arms were redrawn to run parallel and reciprocal while preserving the original inner curvature. This custom typography balances architectural stability, crisp contrast, and classical craftsmanship.
Refining the Brand Identity Design and Logotype Structure
This systematic brand identity design translates across multiple physical touchpoints and printed applications. Minimal business cards, hang tags, folder sleeves, and workshop collateral rely on disciplined layout margins. Deep black typography sits against natural textured paper stocks, generating high visual contrast and tactile depth. The layout system avoids decorative ornamentation, allowing generous negative space and precise letter spacing to define hierarchy. Micro typography on technical spec cards balances against bold headline scales. The underlying grid organizes production details, serial numbers, and contact information into clean, functional columns.
The project extends beyond standard corporate stationery into the tactile environment of the lutherie workshop. A detailed workshop illustration depicts hand planes, chisels, musical instrument jigs, and acoustic guitars on the workbench. This visual asset anchors ATELIER 99 in a deep-rooted culture of making, symbolizing decades of dedicated lutherie experience. Every touchpoint reinforces the brand identity design through blind debossed emblems, durable card stocks, and woven tags. Working in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, the designer delivered a balanced brand ecosystem that honors hands-on craftsmanship and modern graphic restraint.
