Love, joy, and Pride: 6 impactful identities for LGBTQIA+ charities, organisations, and platforms — The Brand Identity – Home of the Greatest in Graphic & Brand Design

Branding has the power to (among MANY things) empower, inform, educate, and support. And this is no less more resonant than with brands that serve and live within the LGBTQIA+ community. Mindlessly slapping a rainbow on a brand will (rightly) lead to rainbow washing accusations. However, there are many examples out there of identities that get it right, paying respect to the past, present, and future of the community, while communicating the brand’s values. One such example is Mother’s work for New York’s Callen-Lorde, an LGBTQ+ health organisation whose bright and bold identity draws inspiration from the guerrilla flyers and marketing created by AIDS activists in the ’80s. Additionally, Whitman Emorson’s entrancing brand image for platform and events organiser FUNCTION honours the legacy of Ballroom. To add to these, here, we have selected a range of identities that infuse vibrancy, empathy, and well-researched insights to create authentic and representative brand worlds.
