How Florian Cornut Crafted Graphic Design for Shapes & Forms
Explore the Shapes & Forms graphic design system by Florian Cornut, pairing Vinila and GT Alpina Fine type across print and stationery.
Look closely at the stationery flat lay for Shapes & Forms. A crisp off-white letterhead anchors the frame, surrounded by four matte charcoal and cream business cards for producer Thomas Knight at 817 S Los Angeles St and seven circular die-cut stickers in warm taupe, cream, and black. It's a quiet, tactile opening. Creative director Florian Cornut built this system between March and June 2023 alongside brand director Byron Regej, Casey Leigh Jordan, and Katelin Perry for the multidisciplinary motion company operating across Los Angeles, New York, and Medellín. Because the studio produces work for the NFL, Super Bowl, Netflix, Hanacure, and Stiiizy, the identity doesn't compete with client reels. Instead, it gives those colorful frames a calm architectural structure built in Illustrator and InDesign.
Modular Grids and Typographic Graphic Design
Two distinct voices drive the typography. Plau Design's extended grotesk Vinila handles the primary wordmark and wide headlines, while Grilli Type's GT Alpina Fine Italic steps in for sharp editorial accents. That contrast sings on the printed broadsheet and square Motion Graphics Trends cards, where stacked lines alternate between heavy sans-serif caps and delicate italic serifs. Everything locks into a three-by-three modular matrix of circles, squares, and vertical bars — a direct nod to keyframes and layout ratios.
Physical production grounds the whole identity. A ring-bound brandbook sits inside a raw cardboard archive box stamped with New York coordinates and wireframe diagrams. Nearby, matte-black business cards lean against amber fluted glass, a vertical black facade banner repeats the geometric primitives at architectural scale, and a raw canvas tote carries vertical strap type for the New York City collection. It isn't overdesigned. Every piece feels purposeful and sharp.
