Iran Launches Battlefield Trophy Propaganda Campaign With Captured US Reaper Drone

The off-ramp narrative is growing louder. With the US midterm elections quickly approaching, the Trump administration may have reached its "declare victory and leave" moment, shifting from military operations toward a negotiated peace deal, one that must last more than one month. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reinforced that possibility earlier, saying the Strait of Hormuz could reopen "today or tomorrow."

As US negotiations with Tehran appear to be ongoing, the Iranian semi-official news agency Tasnim has released battlefield trophy propaganda that appears to show largely intact U.S. MQ-9 Reaper and Israeli Hermes 900 drones, and even parts of an F-15 fighter jet.

Iran has released an image of a fully intact Israeli Hermes 900 drone taken down by Iran's electronic warfare, with the IRGC now reverse-engineering various parts of the drone, per Tasnim. Iran has also started the process of reverse-engineering the previously captured F-15 fighter jet, MQ-9 drone, and C-130 Hercules.

A battlefield trophy display usually serves as propaganda to show 'proof of victory' or as intelligence signaling, demonstrating to the US and other allies that their weapons of war can be studied and reverse-engineered.
